this is from a few weeks back when i was sick with the swine flu..or at least was just plain sick.
it came right about the time swine flu broke out..which wasn't the best time to be hacking, sneezing, and blowing my nose constantly while at work.

i am definitely going to have to try and find a better way of posting sketches than taking pictures of them.

OK REALLY? It's been to long since I've updated. It wouldn't hurt to write things down more often.

Let's see..

I went back to Cleveland to visit with my mom before her big surgery and everything went well. It was great to see her and how well she is doing. I also got to go out one night and hang out with friends I haven't seen in years. It's good to know i have such a great group of friends that when we do get together it's like nothing at all has changed.

As always, it was hard to leave home and it didn't seem like I had visited for nearly long enough.

It wasn't much longer until I left for Knoxville to get my godmother status.
It was amazing to see how much she has grown and watch her learn to do things right before my eyes.

I had a blast just hanging out with little sweet t and laughing. I can't wait to see her again! Hopefully for her 1st birthday in August with all of my family!

Ever since I've gotten back from my traveling ways, I haven't been focused. I hurt my back last week and have been laid up for days because of the pain which lead to a lot of thinking, which made me realize I haven't been very positive or focused as of late and I really need to start working on myself. More so than ever. i have every opportunity in front of me, but do nothing about it. While reading "The Shack" by WM Paul Young, I read something that really hit home and helped me put all of this into perspective.

As "selfish" as it sounds I will start on my journey of focusing on myself and infusing positivity in my life..for my own good and for the betterment of other people. That's that! I'm tired of being all talk and no action.

It's always nice to know how much people you hardly even know have your best interest and truly care.
My mom's surgery was a success! I am so grateful. Now we are just waiting for her to wake up.

Really, hospitals are filled with very strange and unhappy people...it makes for good people watching though.

So, it's been forever since I last posted. I've just been putting it off for way too long...so here is to getting back into the swing of things.

I have been sick for quite a while now with whatever strange coughing/laryngitis bug that has been going around. Even though I have been taking my medicine and all the doctor said I wouldn't be feeling like for 2-3 weeks more. I wish I could get over this already. Feeling exhausted no matter how much sleep I get is frustrating.

We've had quite a few out of towners visit us in the past month or so.

Nina and Travis visited for a little get away from Florida.
Let's just say it was an incredibly rowdy weekend, but I guess that is to be expected whenever the two Travis' get together.
It was great to see Nina and I miss having a friend like her around.

Dog boxing? There were four dogs running around Jesse and Brittany's house. A little crazy.
We found new playmates for Rambo though! He loves going over their place.

Not long after Travis brother, Thomas and his girlfriend Sarah came to visit us from North Dakota.

We showed them around downtown and took them to our favorite place ever, Mellow Mushroom.

We showed them around Tybee Island and stopped at The Crab Shack for a drink and to check out the alligators.
I had never been there before, but it looks like it would be a really fun place to hang out on the patio during the summer.

It was really nice to have guests every once in a while. Hopefully we'll have more in the upcoming months!

so today is scatter brained saturday for me.
WOW, i haven't posted in ages it feels like.
things were entirely too ho-hum for a while there, but i seem to have been catapulted into good times and friendships as of late.

my birthday is in TWO WEEKS. wow, i'm going to be 23 with the mentality of a teenager. frightening.
i hope you've figured out what you're going to get me because i have no clue. JUST KIDDING. i don't need much of anything.

anyway, let's go back a little bit in time...

HALLOWEEN WEEKEND
Georgia vs. Florida Game

spur of the moment decision to actually go to the game and i'm glad we did.
here is me in the closest i could get to supporting GA. HOW BOUT THEM DOGS?
my nose is red from the cold, thankyouverymuch.

we started the morning early along with an r. kelly marathon coming from the camp right next to us. let me tell you, KICK OUT THE JAMS WITH SOME R KELLY!!! haha

there was food and beer pong alll day long until nap time around 3pm.
i woke up once the game was over (like i cared?) and was ready to party some more.
it was a really fun day, i got to hang out with brandi and her awesome friends from work. oh, and dance it up at the "OFF DA CHAIN" tent.

i was pretty tired the whole week after that but had to get ready for our guests from orlando, Cethkyn, who were playing a show at Yong's Country Club just down the street from us.

maaan, i had so much fun!!! kind of makes me wish we lived in Orlando. kind of a lot really.

but i finally got to sleep in today after being a zombie at work this week. woohoo!
so now i'm just trying to figure out christmas presents. i preordered travis' birthday gift. shhh. don't tell.

i'm looking forward to my knoxville trip for thanksgiving and seeing how much teagan has grown and well of course, chowing down on some good food. even though i won't be able to visit for christmas, i am kind of looking forward to testing out how good of a christmas dinner i can make for us. PLUS! the moon river christmas party. so, these next few weeks are going to be hectic and wonderful all at the same time and i am so excited!

I'm in Tennessee at the moment visiting Sweet T.
I flew up here all by myself on the tiniest plane i have ever seen/been on. I felt like puking or grabbing onto the person next to me, but i got through it without doing either. I am not looking forward to the plane ride home though.

I guess being up here motivates me to actually USE my blog, poor neglected thing.
I've been trying to make mo & geri's look all nice and decided to take a break before i got too angry at it.

I don't know if I am biased just because Teagan is my baby niece, but I think she is one of the smartest babies I have met already. She keeps trying to roll over and is starting to use her voice and uses her arms to keep her boppy staying in her mouth. She doesn't just sit there which makes it so much nicer to admire her.

Oh, p.s.
I totally need my own laptop. STAT.

the water was infested with jellyfish. thank goodness i didn't get stung.

we got vip status with an umbrella and chairs to lay out on.
it was HOT and i could feel the burn as soon as we got there.
i got to hang out with a few new people who were all pretty nice and fun.

soo say hello to my "new life."
i started training for my new job and monday and signed up for my benefits today.
it felt so adult and strange to me, especially when they started discussing life insurance.
i am super excited for my new job. it means more pay, PLUS i will get incentive bonuses. it also means i will have to take on more responsibility which i think i definitely need in my life.
tomorrow i'll go in and probably start off doing the same thing i have been for the last few months before i start learning the tricks of the trade. OH WELL. still excited to learn something new and getting that pretty little paycheck at the end of the month!

but as i'm writing about responsibility i am trying to avoid the ones i have around the house by writing this post. ha!

last minute 4th of july decisions were made.
we went to south carolina and bought fireworks. me, i got the giant sparklers. that's about all i'd mess with.

we went to tim's for a going away/bonfire/4th of july party.
i guess it was my mission to try and be a social butterfly.

the ladies of the party that decided to be social as well and not outcasts like SOME people. hahaha

so overall it was a pretty good night.
the next day i was feeling a bit rough and watched a harry potter marathon for a great majority of the day. weee.

today after investigating WHY my bug bites burnt so bad...travis figured out that my legs are.....INFESTED WITH CHIGGERS.
clear nail polish has been applied to the affected areas and the burning sensation has subsided.

thanks georgia, for all of the gross bugs that inhabit your lovely state.

one sunday afternoon at tybee.
we should do this more often!
like my tan lines? it looks like i'm sporting some bright white shorts.

i should have made an adventure list (like i used to do) for this summer, but i didn't.
we still have to go camping a few times before summer is up.
time is really flying by quickly.

we went swimming right before the storm came.

also on the summer to do list: SHARK FISHING!!!
this is from our roll of film from last summer and our shark fishing escapades.
once i bought the camera, travis didn't catch any shark. isn't that just my luck?

if you're interested, here is a picture of our new entertainment center we just got. for glass paned doors on either side, little area towards the top to hide all of the electronic devices, and then four little drawers in the middle. i'm likin' it.
next on the HOUSE to do list: paint the dang walls! yeesh.

the best part about huge concerts is always the huge variety of people to watch.
i probably could have done without seeing a majority of the kid rock fans though.

karri was probably one of the worst drivers i have ever met (but nonetheless still a fun girl.)
eeek! this is nina and i on the way back from the show trying not to pay attention to the roads for fear of screaming.

i wasn't kidding.
my feet were filthy! by the end of the day.
everyone kept calling me "dirty, dirty girl."
oh, and there is my mangled looking toe.
it's feeling fine today.

travis' friends and their friends were all pretty cool people to hang out with. oh, definitely hilarious AND crazy. i'm hoping we get to visit again sometime this summer.

so. the colors are a little squewed but i really am TAN!!!
(rambo just got done giving me a cute puppy kiss to the face while i was trying to take a picture of myself)

yesterday we went to tybee beach with zack and brandi.
it was a beautiful day!!! the sun was out and shining bright too.
maybe a little TOO bright considering i spent most of last night calling travis "tomatohead." soon after i realized i had gotten burnt in places that aren't the most comfortable for sitting down.
i brought my camera for the festivities prepared to snap MANY shots, but guess what? i forgot my image card. if it's not one thing, it's another with me and why i can't seem to take pictures of fun times. (i also lost the cord to upload the pictures i did get to take directly from the camera)
pesky katie story: travis was making fun of me by being freaked out by low flying seagulls..so i got my revenge. i threw a cheeto next to somewhat-snoozing travis and not even 3 seconds (not even enough to prepare myself for a bird sighting) later a bird is trying to scoop it up. travis bats it away and i scream and get out of my chair cause it starts coming towards ME. travis leans over and eats the cheeto laughing. i guess my peskyness backfired on me.

tuesday night we went to the sand gnats game.
there were hardly 50 people there, but we still had a blast.
brandy is the only one of us who has a group shot picture on her camera so i can't post it yet. we posed with "SAMMY!!! the sand gnat."

story behind the one ring not on the rod, well...we broke one of the stoppers, shoved something between the wall and rod before we realized OOPS!!! katie forgot the last one. we haven't wanted to mess with it since in case we couldn't get it back up again. hahaha

too bad the list of "shooters" behind us wasn't fully captured..there were some interesting names on there.

i came home that afternoon to find travis missing his mustache.
the reason? still unknown but zach (the georgia boy in the picture) now refers to it as his baby lip.
i think they both win an award for the squintiest of eyes at the table!!! haha

i'm so glad we have friends like them in our life now.

here is a picture of the park downtown where everyone takes their dogs for a walk and girls run while talking on their cellphones.

isn't it beautiful? in the gate is "THE SCENTED GARDEN" we laughed at the name while approaching it, but then all of a sudden we could smell all of the flowers.

i'm suffering from some serious red eye and travis is giving his "are you interested?" face

YES, we survived it.
even woke up before ten the next morning. (without a raging hangover i might add! hahaha)

we got down there earlier in the day and the temperature was at a nice 73 degrees. i think this year was the first st. patrick's days celebration i've been to that wasn't chilly.

the place was already packed.
people were already drunk and it was hardly 3!
we met up with zach and brandy and a bunch of their friends. walked around, listened to some music, had a few beers, and just people watched for the most part.

it was a fun time and we made it home before the big ol' blackout.

everyone always stresses the importance of prayer, but very rarely do i ever.
talking to god helps. even though he doesn't talk back to me or give me some great epiphany, but the most calming feeling that everything is going to be alright. almost immediately the nerves settle and my heart beats at a regular pace again and it's like i know the answer without being told. i either know what i need to do and that may be just to STOP or am finally okay with not being able to know everything, but am assured that in time i will.

for some reason i became really excited for the summer today while at work.
which reminded me of this awesome swimsuit. so the second (right now) i got home, i ordered it.

woo hoo!
swimsuit season starts in the end of april down here probably so REALLY i'm not that far in advance.
just the motivation i needed.

in other good news, i found out today that the job opening is OPEN FOR ALL.
it's in customer service which is something i vowed NOT to do, but....the good (MUCH increased income, pays for school, benefits ahem) outweighs the bad in this situation and i would only have to stay in that department for six months before i could move on to something i would much rather do.

so...! this week i will be sprucing up my resume and getting my head in the game for feeeelin' gooood.

today we took rambo to his first vet visit.
everyone said how cute and well behaved he was for being so young.
when the nurse picked him up to weigh him she was amazed at how heavy he was because he's so small. turns out he weighs 36lbs! no wonder i had a hard time picking him up after giving him his bath. yeeesh! he's definitely going to be a big boy.

also today at work i had to man the phone lines. when asked how it went by my co-worker, i told her i probably wouldn't be picking the phone up anytime soon. YEP, that's how well it went.

oh you know, i'd much rather be procrastinating on a saturday afternoon than cleaning. i think i've read all of the celebrity gossip i possibly could. now i'm looking through old pictures of mine and came across my collage book..which i still think is awesome.
i need to find some old national geographics at a thrift store and make some more. it's so much fun putting text to pictures.
i'm also listening to my "katie" themed playlist. reason for the lyrics above.

from a while ago.

i picked up some pencils and whipped out the sketchbook, but nothing really came to me. well i should say, i didn't like a thing i sketched out. practice makes perfect. it's been a long while since i even touched my sketchbook so i guess it's a start.

still one of my favorite pictures of me ever. it was taken by deirdre back in the day.
i bought a frame for it the other day and now it's POOF! gone. missing.
figures.

i've felt lost, confused, and unbelievably sad this past month. just when i thought i couldn't get out of it, something clicked inside of me.
it happened over night.
how come life just seems to work out that way?
you try so hard, get discouraged, and then all of a sudden a great calm comes over you when you least expect it and everything doesn't feel so out of place, you realize that there is nowhere else to go but up and that is where you are FINALLY headed.

THANK GOD!! kt is back at it.

happy birthday to travis who turned 26 yesterday!
we went out to dinner at spanky's to celebrate travis' birthday.

i'm worn out, exhausted, and think i have a cold coming on.
i need to REEELAAAAX and slow myself down this weekend. i feel like a hamster scurrying in my wheel and getting absolutely nowhere, just tired.
expect a new years resolution post soon. i need to get my priorities in order for the year. travis and i both agree that this year is going to be a great one.

i think this year has been the best Christmas ever.
i say that every year so maybe things just get better with age. i'm not sure.

the best gift i recieved? well, runner up to the aweeeesome ipod nano, was having travis celebrate christmas with my family. i had a lot of fun and it was really important to me that he came along.
i think the most fun part about christmas is GIVING gifts. i put thought into every gift and it's so exciting to see everyone's reaction.

second of course is the awesome food to be eaten.
there is nothing quite like home cookin' and a bunch of sweets to fill yourself up on!

this isn't thanksgiving, but it's still a time to be thankful for everything and everyone you have in your life and on that note i am VERY thankful for my family and travis. they are my support system and i would be nowhere without them.

i also got to see my best friend:

i hope that whenever i do get a dog of my own, i will have one as cool as callie is.

i am STILL uploading music (that i don't really want) to my ipod so i haven't been able to enjoy it as much as i would have liked by now. hopefully soon it will be done though!!!

the second i got to work i think i caught everyone else's cold and have been hacking ever since. let's hope this cold doesn't settle.

what to look forward to? setting up my '08 resolutions and travis' 26th birfday.

thanksgiving just wasn't the same not being around family this year and all. we made the best of it though and travis once again proved to be quite the cook.

i've been wanting to do something for my birthday for a while now, but haven't really come up with any plans other than i want to get dressed up, look pretty, and have a good time. so i ordered myself this outfit today in preparation. hopefully i think of something to do so i can strut my stuff. haha shanda may be visiting next weekend too, before she moves to michigan.

creepy pub crawl

FINALLY! something worth posting about!
last night travis, brian, dawn, and i went downtown for the creepy pub crawl tour.
we started out at an old bar called six pence and from there we walked around town stopping at areas that are known to be haunted as well as pubs.

it was a lot of fun. we started out learning that savannah was the site of a large indian burial ground that was leveled and the city was built on top of. this seemed to be a recurring theme without the tour and i couldn't help but think of all of the dead people underneath every step i took.

we probably had the best tour guide possible because you could tell he did it just for the fun of it.
this was our first stop on the tour. a bed and breakfast where scratching in the walls would wake up many of the male visitors, but not the women. while converting that particular room into a utility room, the contractors found a skeleton in the walls. what had happened was when they were digging up the basement for the current building many, many years ago they found the skeleton, but instead of leaving it where it was or giving it a proper burial, they just plastered over it in the walls of the building. the skeletal remains were believed to be native american so the cherokee nation took it upon themselves to give it the proper burial it deserved and ever since then there hasnt been any scratching waking up the bed and breakfast's male guests since.

this is the only church in savannah that has NOT been destroyed by the many fires that the town had suffered from during the 1800s. the other churches began speculating that the baptists were intentionally setting the fires! underneath this church a few thousand jewish graves were found and the church was built on top of them.

next we went to the oldest cemetery in savannah which is actually VERY small, but contains at least 15,000 bodies.
after that, we went to the 17hundered90, where the honeymoon suite has many haunting stories. it's booked for the next two years because of this.

next up is the kehoe house which is believed to be haunted by quite the practical joker. the story goes that the lady of the house used to love playing practical jokes on her family. one in particular was throwing a large object down the stairs and then to start crying to wake everyone up and think that someone had fallen down the stairs until of course they heard her cackles. but as it turns out, her family ended up being the last to play a practical joke on her. the lady died and one of her requests was to have her coffin "paraded" through town with six white horses carrying her coffin, instead the family had her coffin led by six mules. she came back to her old stomping grounds and ever since has been playing practical jokes. after her death, the family sold the house and it was turned into a funeral home.
a mortician was coming in for his first day of work and smelled coffee brewing. he thought possibly someone had come in to help him on his first day, so he went in the kitchen to pour himself a cup of coffee and sitting at the table was a corpse with a mug of coffee in his hand. the man was so scared he fled and never told anyone until a few months later when he wrote a letter as to why he had left the town in such a hurry.

there are a lot more stories and places we saw, but i can only think of so much. my favorite story is probably the most disturbing so i might as well just keep that to myself. it's not a story for the faint of heart, that's for sure.

oh, and guess who i met?! STAGG!!! hahahahah
i accidentally was like WHO IS THAT GUY FROM GUNS N ROSES? STAGG? hahahaha woops, i meant slash.

travis and i had a lot of fun. we learned quite a bit about savannah and went to places we probably would have never even noticed if it weren't for the tour.

today we carved pumpkins and decorated the front for halloween.
i'll take pictures of our awesome pumpkins tonight when they're all lit up.

so my mom and dad came to visit travis and me in good ol' savannah.
friday night they arrived and we went down to the city market and sat out on the patio of wild wing cafe. it was nice to see them after so long and to see my dad tell his stories. it's like a performance, really.

saturday afternoon we went down to broughton st. for some shopping. you can't get away from tim tim and his manic shopping excursions! even if it's pouring down rain. HA! i was soaked to the bone and freezing by the end of the trip. i saw a lot of stores i had never even noticed before. NOT TO MENTION!!! i got some awesome thrifting deals like, a $2 paul frank belt, a striped hoodie, and two shirts.

sunday we went back downtown and hung out at oktoberfest.
mom and i shared call-a-cabs. we walked around and looked at the little touristy shops i had never been in before. it was a fun time.

overall, i really needed to see my parents. they keep me grounded when i kind of forget who i am. i'm glad i have them around to be my support system. just next time dad and i should at least take ONE picture together. haha

in the meantime i am trying to stick to their advice, but at times it is proving to be very difficult.

callie is thoroughly unimpressed with me or so it seems from her deep sighs. i pet her, i take her for walks, i even remember to give her the last bite of food before i finish whatever i'm eating, and still! it seems like to her i am thee most boring person on the planet. ha! i probably am since all i have been doing with my time alone is reading whatever i can.

it's gotten old quick.
believe me, i can't wait for mo and geri to come home and show me their neat pictures from bermuda. and plus, you know that whole "human interaction" thing.

i also can't wait to get my car fixed and head back down to savannah. i never thought i would consider that place my home, but i guess it grew on me without me even knowing it.

books i would not recommend reading:
01) swapping lives -- just something to pass the time
02) nineteen minutes -- you know the ending within 19 minutes of reading, but for some reason still plow through the 300 or more pages left
03) the last summer of you and me -- maybe i just am really! good at figuring out endings, but! you pretty much know what's going to happen and i found myself getting mad at the characters who just seemed to make the simplest of things, difficult.
04) a wedding in december -- it was okay but the deceit made me hate it.

and well, the only book i have liked so far is stephen king's four past midnight which i'm not yet through with.

a few nights ago we all went out to ray's and hung out on the patio, ate some food, and drank some beers.
^ in the above picture, don't i resemble an unimpressed picture taking callie? i think so. haha we have been mistaken for one another before.
unfortunately, i did not get to witness the wonders of tall paul because we split before he performed. maybe one of these days i'll get to. ha!
when we got home callie chased this creepy little possum up a tree. i was scared it was going to jump on my face and start scratching out my eyeballs. instead it just peed from that branch while staring down at all of us.

i am the cooking master!
i cooked tuna melts the other day for mo and geri. they turned out really well and i felt oh so proud of myself.

geri and i posing for a picture before going down to tom's for a get together. i can't remember the reason for such a terrible face on my part, i think maybe my smile was not up to mo's standards at first. hahaha!
my first football game ever will be hard to beat if i ever decide to see anyone other than the VOLS play, that's for sure. never in my liiiife have i seen so many people decked out in orange. my favorite part of the night? probably guiltily participating in THE WAVE that seemed to make its way around the stadium for 10min straight.

not sweating was unfortunately NOT an option that night.

sunday morning i wake up and am told to get ready! cause we're going to buckhead for a race. what an action packed weekend. mo and i walked around the course cheering on geri who did well. after the race we went to fado's for some food and a celbratory beer.

the best part? mo asking me to take a picture of her and geri while trying to get the sign also in the picture. i ended up in the weirdest stance saying "BUT I'M A MIDGET!" and all of us cracking up with laughter. you'd think i had more than a beer by the way we were cracking up about it.

after what seemed like the longest car ride back to knoxville, i was pooped after such an exciting weekend with mo and geri.

daily walks with callie and the ocassional jog.
this "vacation" of mine is much needed and appreciated that i have such a fun place to stay at.

i miss shanda and wish she still lived in savannah. cause then i'd at least have friends, fun friends.

in other news, my car wouldn't start this morning and we're going to go buy a battery for it in hopes that that is all that is wrong with it. poor green goblin :(

CATCH ME A SHARK

last night around 11p.m. travis and i went SHARK FISHING with his friends.
it was so much fun. after walking down a path and being surrounded by the defeaning sound of frogs croaking, we got to the pitch black beach which seemed like it came right out of a horror movie. eventually our eyes adjusted and we could see the people around us a little bit better so it wasn't as creepy.

jamie was the first to catch a little fish.
travis was the first to catch a baby shark.
then mike caught a significantly larger shark.
then jamie caught a sting ray.
travis was excited to catch an even bigger one and HE DID.

(at least)4ft, 60lbs, bonnet head.
it was amazing!!!

the tsunami that hit my purse was NOT amazing excepted it made me scream "MY PURSE!!!" and scurry towards it while travis lept over it thinking it was some weird sea creature. thank god i didn't listen to him and bring the camera this time.
neither were the weirdos who came over saying "i would reeeaaally like to help release this shark into the waaater."

they fished probably until 4a.m.
now i'm covered in bug bites, but wow that was a lot of fun.

what is so hard about taking pictures of fun events?
i can't seem to force myself to do it at the time, but then afterward i wish i had pictures.
thanks to the jackass though who took a picture of their pudgy hand flicking off my camera.

fourth of july was A LOT of fun.
unfortunately, we still have a lot of left overs and more than enough beer to last for the next week or two.
of course it had it's dramatic moments (ahem) and i'm not quite sure why i seemed to get picked on more than usual but EH. i dealt with it and didn't end up shooting someone's eye out.

we should have parties more often! except i'm not too excited about the huge clean up job i have yet to finish.

i'm six months away from 22. i guess it's a good thing i still look like i'm 16?

because no one really reads this and i won't feel embarassed admitting this, i take pictures of my body as often as possible. to see a change of some sort if i am looking to lose weight.

so far i've lost 10lbs.
from these pictures, i would like to lose another 10/15 in the next few months.

i'm pretty satisfied with my current results.
